Summary of Purpose: Provide support to the PR & Marketing department of the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS), with a focus social media, photo and video content, copy editing and donor and stakeholder relations.

Duties (Essential Functions):

• Provide general administrative support for PR & Marketing team
• Respond daily to messages on social media and help Content Manager in developing and posting KHS content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok
• Capture photo and video content as needed, including independently photographing animals, adoptions, donations, events, volunteers, behind-the-scenes, off-site rescues, etc.
• Maintain and manage KHS photo database (Flickr), including organizing, editing and uploading photos
• Spearhead photo volunteer program, including creating schedules and photo lists, as well as being point person for questions
• Organize and manage pet calendar submissions
• Assist in writing and uploading pet bios and following pets’ stories for use on social media, publications, donor communications, websites, blog, broadcast emails and other marketing assets
• Coordinate Pet of the Week submissions to local media and track pet segments and listings, including TV, radio, print and web
• Act as a forward-facing KHS representative, including supporting Outreach Department during special events
• Help update, research and write stories for publications, website, blog, broadcast emails and other marketing assets
• Proofread PR publications, donor materials, blogs and other marketing assets
• Organize and maintain adoption folder materials
• Coordinate incoming customer service emails, responding and directing to appropriate departments
• Oversee and respond to Google/Bing Reviews
• Assist the Content Manager, Marketing & Design Manager, and PR & Marketing Director with projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Extremely organized, with strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Experience in social media
• Deadline-oriented, with demonstrated ability to work independently and multi-task
• Advanced computer knowledge, including MS Word and Excel, with the ability to learn new software. Preferred knowledge of Adobe products and/or Canva
• Punctual and dependable with a professional, neat appearance
• Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with people of all backgrounds and personalities
• Comfortable learning how to handle shelter animals
• Willingness to be included in photographs used on social media
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Accept, support, and represent KHS core values, programs, policies and procedures
• Background Check required

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree OR may substitute 2 years or more of related experience preferred

Physical Demands/Working Environment:

• The individual will have extended periods of sitting, talking, and listening.
• Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, walking, and standing on a regular basis while performing job functions.
• Local travel - Includes frequent off-site meetings and a variety of KHS locations (includes mileage reimbursement)
• Occasionally lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to or exceeding 30 lbs.

• Includes mainly working in an indoor desk environment and includes taking animals to various media outlets/events.
